Turning My TV Script Into A Comic Strip (Part 2)
This endeavour has proven to be slower than I imagined which is ironic considering I’m utilising AI. The problem is that AI is not as sophisticated as it seems. Or perhaps a better way of putting it is that it’s still somewhat primitive. Creating consistent characters requires many generations and this inevitably takes a lot of time. Even then, when you generate an image that is relatively good, you find that there are mistakes which require you to edit and erase. The inbuilt editor definitely makes this easier but again, having to do this many times can be a little tedious. In the last month, I’ve decided to use Canva in addition to Midjourney. This allows me to save the backgrounds I need so I can just focus on characters in Midjourney. While working on this comic, more memories of inner-city life in the 90s have resurfaced and I may reference some of these things going forward. Rewatching some of my favourite 90s films/shows have also reinforced the need to be more playful when it comes to the fantasy elements sprinkled throughout the story as this is something I’ve always enjoyed. That sense of adventure and discovery, fantastical lands, weird, humorous creatures is something I gotta tap into.
